Brand a nity requires continually investing in both the business and our customers, but more importantly it also the result of a relationship that is rmly built on mutual trust and support. At UMW Toyota Motor, our responsibility goes beyond merely o ering customers vehicles that they can always depend on, but we also believe that we make a signi cant contribution towards the development and prosperity of the nation and society.

Toyota has come a long way since the opening of the first assembly plant in Shah Alam in 1968. Today, we operate two manufacturing plants in Malaysia – one in Shah Alam and a state-of-the art facility in Bukit Raja, Klang which was opened in 2019. Combined, we assemble up to 100,000 vehicles per year making the Malaysian operations one of the most e cient facilities withinthe Toyota global network. With RM2 billion invested in the new manufacturing facility in Bukit Raja, moving forward will see greater focus on the production of Energy E cient Vehicles (EEVs) and this will include the rst mass production of Toyota Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) in Malaysia. This push towards electri cation in Malaysia is in support of the development of the automotive industry and in line with the Government’s aspiration to position Malaysia as a leader in automotive technologies and advancements in the region. Taking this fi rst step of introducing Hybrid technology vehicles on a mass scale will quickly transform the automotive landscape in Malaysia for Malaysians.

The future is going to be a very exciting one! As a company, we have always embraced and remain committed to a Customer First philosophy. This not only entails listening to what our customers want, their likes as well as dislikes, and their suggestions for even further improvements, but we approach this with a great sense of responsibility by way of planning for and introducing products and services that are designed to help elevate their status and quality of lives. Over the course of the more than 50 years since the rest Toyota vehicle was sold in Malaysia, the brand has worked hard to rea rm its reputation from being one of the most reliable, durable and dependable on the road, to introducing vehicles that are today equipped with a comprehensive suite of intelligent safety systems designed to keep our customers and their occupants safer.

Moving forward, we will not only retain this but we are now ready to take Malaysian motoring into the next generation with the local mass assembly and introduction of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), as the entire world makes a conscious and concerted e ort to champion Carbon Neutrality. The age of the electric car is rapidly approaching and in addition to Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Toyota is also aggressively pursuing to validate its technology in the areas of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV). As these technologies become viable, so will all required infrastructure to support it in order for it to be practically and economically embraced by the masses. We invite Malaysian to embark on this journey with us, to take that rst important step into the future with Toyota.
