ASSB starts its Toyota Vehicle Assembly.
1968
1972
AISB is established.
1982
UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. & Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) sign a distributor agreement to assemble, market & distribute Toyota vehicles through Sejati Motor in Malaysia.
1987
Sejati Motor changes its name to UMWT.
1999
TMC increases its stake in UMWT to 39% and Toyota Tsusho Corporation maintains its 10% stake.
2004
UMWT opens its new Parts Distribution Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor.
2005
UMWT relocates to its present headquarters building.
2006
Begins export of Toyota Hiace to Thailand. UMWT establishes Lexus Malaysia.
2007
Lexus Malaysia opens its first Lexus Showroom in Mutiara Damansara, Selangor.
2008
UMWT achieves 100,000 units in Toyota Vios vehicle sales in Malaysia.
2009
UMWT introduces the Toyota Prius, the first hybrid car from Toyota in Malaysia.
2010
UMWT expands its Parts Distribution Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor. Lexus Malaysia expands its operations outside the Klang Valley, in Penang.
2011
Achieves assembly volume of 1,000,000 vehicles. UMWT opens a new Integrated Quality Hub (IQH) and test track in Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor.
2012
UMWT celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
2015
ASSB begins assembly of its 1st Hybrid Vehicle (Toyota Camry).
2016
Announces Toyota’s New Plant in May ’16. Receives 6 Safety Awards from ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix for Hilux, Sienta, Rush, Altis, Camry 2.5 Hybrid Luxury and Innova models.
2019
ASSB Bukit Raja Plant begins production. UMWT launched the all-new Toyota Vios and the all-new Toyota Yaris that were built at the newly completed ASSB Bukit Raja Plant. ASSB celebrates 50th Years of Toyota Production in Malaysia (Graced by Sultan of Selangor at Bukit Raja Plant)
